Learn How to Make Seitan

Learning how to make seitan provides vegetarians and vegans with another meat substitute. Seitan can be eaten on its own or used as a meat substitute in a variety of other recipes. All that is required to make seitan is wheat gluten flour (also known as vital wheat gluten or wheat gluten powder) and water or stock. A plain version can be created using just the basic ingredients, however a wide variety of herbs and spices can be added to the base ingredients to create tasty savory dishes.

Basic Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Wheat gluten flour
  • Approximately 3/4 cup Water or stock

Plus any seasoning as required.
